The 2003 World Fly Fishing Championships were held in Jaca Spain. Jaca
is a beautiful community settled in the Pyranees mountains of Northern Spain.
Some 20 countries from around the world were represented at the FIPS Mousche
XXIV World Championship. The events take place over 5 days with 2 days of
official practice and 3 days of fishing. There were 5 competition venues, 4
rivers and 1 lake. Each venue was held during a 3 hour time period so everyone
fished two venues per day and took half a day off on Sunday. Scoring is done
using strictly Catch and Release. Anglers must have a controller measure and
release each fish unharmed. The rivers fished were the Aragon, Subordan, Veral,
Gallego, and a high mountain lake. On the following pages you will see pictures
of the people and places from the Championships. I must say it was one of
the best experiences of my life. The friends I made, the things I got to see,
and the things I got the opportunity to learn are a life experience I'll never
forget. For those of you who would like more pictures, please feel free to email
me. The pictures here have all been reduced for file size and are only a small
sample of the thousands of pictures and video I have available. Congratulations
to Team USA for it's highest finish ever, and to Jeff Currier for his Individual
Bronze Medal.
